Leg jiggling: is it a male-only phenomenon? An observational study in an airport café.

Sounds as though you have personal experience so please tell us more. We didn't observe that phenomenon in our study but would consider a video as an add-on.......;)🦵

Leg jiggling: is it a male-only phenomenon? An observational study in an airport café.

We got to Nice airport with two hours to spare so sat in a caff. A man on a nearby table was intermittently jiggling either one or both legs at a rate too rapid to count - maybe about 4/second. If he made arm movements, eg raising a cup, the movements might stop but speaking to his companion...

Honey stall in Nice flower market yesterday

    Beginner

That's very pessimistic Eric, maybe thieves are more common in the Home Counties. I've not heard of any hive rustling in these parts in 23 years and Norfolk is probably the same.

What's flowering as forage in your area

Viburnum bodnantiensis. There's one in my apiary (a disused plant nursery). Starts blooming before Christmas and starting to fade now. Nice scent, attracts bees on a warm day. I planted a juvenile one in my garden last year = two blooms so far.

    Hopeful Beginner!!

Yes, but hopefully your beekeeping hobby will last several years by which time sarcopenia (= age-related muscle loss) will affect your ability to lift. It won't be the only part of your body to shrink.........:(;)

    Hopeful Beginner!!

I'm 82 3/4 👴and have four wooden Nationals and two poly - which are a bit lighter. The wooden hives have Abelo poly roofs - much lighter. The job I struggle with is taking off the supers full of honey, and then lifting them back with clearer boards in between, then taking them off again. A few...

What's flowering as forage in your area

Depends on the variety: one in a neighbour's garden opens before Christmas, mine is just starting.

    This year's honey price

Yes, she is missed. A few years ago she was sitting next to me at the annual Harvest Supper in the village hall. She told me to "Put your napkin on your lap" I obliged and asked her "Why don't you do the same?" She replied "Because I don't drop food down my front like you do":laughing-smiley-014

    This year's honey price

No, sadly she is in long term residential care. In her defence, it was usually a nearly full jar with just a scoop removed that she returned......:)

I found this message in an empty honey jar on my doorstep yesterday! I charge £6.

Thanks for the link to this website - new to me. FYI, the dense distribution of blackthorn 'in Norfolk' shown is actually both Norfolk and adjacent Suffolk - my county. We South Folk don't like being grouped with the North Folk........;) Blackthorn is out - no cherry round here

I'd never heard of him until listening to the 6 o'clock news last night.........

    Spring treatment?

I don't treat in spring but maybe I should?

    After some sympathy

I agree, especially if there's a big pile of bees on the OMF, as I had, cf. Enrico's 'handful of bees' which is more compatible with queen failure.

    After some sympathy

There have been a few similar recent posts including one of mine = plenty of stores + big pile of bees on OMF cf. yours = stores + handful of bees. Presumably differing pathologies?
