A ban on smacking children in Wales: a personal testimony.

Miss Canter used to slap our thighs aged 8 (us not her) - but Mr Parry (aged 7) did me much more harm though he never laid a finger. This was the mid 70s.

    Beetight app for Android

Please please please try the airtable thing - it's free and easily customised. Does all the other stuff you mention. I've no commercial axe to grind but think this could be a really useful tool for the community. I'm happy to keep developing with feedback. Airtable is an online database...

So my offer (the airtable link above) does little you can't achieve with pen and paper. It's a preference I guess.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

She was a bit bigger than these are described as more like 2.4cm. I’m thinking Bombus ruderatus. Seems they are a bit less common up north though. In Oxfordshire however the rarer black sub species has been found. 😈 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-oxfordshire-23705082

Latest snake-oil varroa treatment pretending not to be a varroa treatment

I expected that feedback. I might try that next time. I know there are 380 bees in my cup. The results are relevant to this hive and my own decisions regarding future varroa control. Are wash and roll result numbers interchangeable?

She was alive. I lifted her out for the second photo. Then put her back. 😕

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Possible, it's a pretty busy hive but the cluster is at the opposite end of the long hive from the entrance - so inevitably it goes quiet in the eveing and early moring so she might have snuck in then. Bees were just ignoring it.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

This on the wall of my strongest hive. I assume it's a bumble bee of some sort. Pure black - no stripes or white tail. Any ideas? Is it common for them to overwinter in a hive? Neil

Latest snake-oil varroa treatment pretending not to be a varroa treatment

So just to update. Alcohol wash - 380 bees, zero varroa in washings. Obviously I'm on a long hive and this is just one result so liitle may be extrapolated. I'll do, and update re, my other colonies in the comming weeks.

    An Update on cross bees

Struggled to picture this. Don't they both end up on the hive stand which is now midway?

    Early unite

You think it's worth the risk of wating the month given how small the donor coloney is? If they've made it this far do they usually limp on into the spring proper? There are flows here now (weather allowing).

    Early unite

Lack of moveable boxes makes it a faf - but can just tack or tape newspaper accross the hive between colonies then move combs accross. Issue can be fliers coming back to the worng hive but I'll close it up and presumably they beg there way in eslewhere. (But I'll do the unite on the site of the...
