I have them right on the end, the bees stick them into place and I actually quite like the extra piece on the frame. It helps me handle the frames but I think I am the only one who thinks this😁. It also keeps them clear of the rails as the extra height does cause problems.
I have never noticed...
I have always used DN1 and plastic ends as I bought a load of different second hand frames and the ends made it easy to swap around but I am now slowly changing to DN4 just because it is a bit easier. I also used to clean ever frame and rewax it, as I get older I find I am using more for...
But at the end of the day, as long as you put on the label the weight you have put in the jar it doesn't matter what size it is. I don't really see the problem unless you buy pre printed labels
You can prove all this to yourself by putting an empty jar on a kitchen scale, set it to 0 and then see how much honey fits in the jar. That is what goes on the label in grammes
I can't believe how it's turned itself round. The flow here has been tremendous and I have had two boxes of honey off what was an early swarm I collected. Changed the queen for a quieter one and they have flourished. Up to four hives with three of them doing really well. I was gutted at the end...
I have a box just like that too 😆 and I have just extracted it. Once in a blue moon the lime produces and this must be a blue moon . Delicate with a floral taste, a green tinge to a clear honey. And a couple more boxes to come off
Pixart printing is a brilliant company. They did a 2m x 1m sign for me all the way from Italy for £20. It is real fun designing it using their web site too. Good quality, hasn't faded.they do everything from banners to bags
I tried to buy some lids from my local supplier. 100 twist lids that weigh nothing. £20 for the lids ........ £16 for the postage ........you having a laugh! They wouldn't budge!
