What's flowering as forage in your area

They reckon it's to starve the pests isn't it....partly anyway?

What variety of oak is that one?

    Sending Honey to EU

Probably each state is different. I don't reckon he'd get it into Tasmania for instance. I've never seen any honey from the UK. We don't have deformed wing virus in Australia yet. Can that be present in honey?

OA. How much mite drop do you get?

Could that be because those prolific colonies have the highest number of bees?

    Thymol death syrup

Interesting. What problems does the mould cause?

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Inspected a split today and found what is obviously a "King" cell.

    Weak Queenless Hive

Sorry, I wasn’t clear. It’s not an issue with the weather but I assume there isn’t any brood to look at in the hive in question? Have I misunderstood?

    Weak Queenless Hive

I don't want to gang up on you here, and I'm not disagreeing with your suggested options, but wouldn't it now be difficult to usefully inspect for diseases of the brood?

    Recycling brood wax?

I steam brood combs with no issue with a standard wallpaper steamer, but my brood frames and the box are smaller (box 144mm). It works brilliantly even in the roaring forties. Perhaps with the bigger box/frames you might need to use two steamer pipes? I would have thought wallpaper steamers...

    Green desert

The growing use of centre pivots (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Center-pivot_irrigation) have seen quite a few of the old hedges go here. Google earth shows you those (see central north Tas. ...no, they are not alien crop circles :ROFLMAO:) and I can see they don't seem to be a thing in the UK...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

That's certainly the phase they are in down here at the moment .

    Combining colonies

I'd probably lean towards reassessing things in spring. The brood and bees could come in handy to bolster weaker colonies at that time. If there is a bit of a flow on in spring they might combine with less fuss? I made a mistake last season combining colonies and getting rid of queens in the...

Is hedgelaying disappearing somewhat in the UK? I always thought that hedges were done "properly" in the UK? https://paulineconolly.com/2020/hawthorn-hedging-along-tasmanias-midland-highway/

    Green desert

I've realised that one of the greatest differences with beekeeping here, compared to the UK, is that there is a lot of moving of hives down here to different forage or flows throughout the season. I can't think of anywhere here that has nectar available all season (except a little in urban...

    Affordable prewired assembled frames?

Interesting guys. I've gone the other way, starting initially wiring up with with pins and other methods, but these days use pliers to pull the wire through fairly tightly (Australian made stainless steel wire, about .34/.35 mm) and then crimpers once nailed/anchored and the excess tag...

    Affordable prewired assembled frames?

I'm intrigued as to why you don't use crimpers?

    Poly Miller Feeder

Yes, something like an ice cream container works well. We do tend to sit them on a hive mat though, which I don't think you guys use.
