What did you do in the Apiary today?

Only went to the apiary today to add additional supers.. couldn’t help but take a peek whilst I was there. Slightly stumped by one colony. No sign of queen or eggs, lots of sealed brood and larvae.. I run double national brood, so I took a look in the bottom box and I find one single uncapped...

    Rejecting frames of eggs

Would a colony ever reject an added frame of eggs from another colony? For instance, if you suspected a colony was Q- added a test frame of only eggs no larva, has anyone ever heard of the frame off eggs being left alone and not nursed into larva etc.. Thanks

    Queen cells argh!

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll open up my strong colony and see if they can afford to loose a frame of eggs and larvae. Much appreciated.

    Queen cells argh!

Just drone brood by the looks of things.. Should I add a frame of brood from my stronger hive and wait and see regarding the measly queen cell?

    Queen cells argh!

Thanks for the replies.. There were some sealed brood on 2/3 frames but nowhere near as much as my other hive. Is re-queening now a viable option of I remove all traces of queen cells/cups? What would you guys recommend?
