Thanks, so by squashing the dropping how do I rule out mouse droppings ?

I am not sure how strong a hive they are as I have nothing to compare it too but they do seem to be thriving, I am slightly worried it was a mouse in there because we have a few where I am that the cats catch often and I showed a friend who said they looked like mouse droppings
