    re temp in poly tunnels. dropping off the nuc this morning at 9am had to take my jumper off. Thats to say tee shirt weather. Wish it was like that outside at 9am. So not sure that temp is the issue. Might be plenty of others though. Buzz

    He seems to think it would help reduce what he called funny shaped fruit, so make of that what you will. I'm not a farmer. Popped up to to have a look at them and they didn't seem to be going great guns on the Strawberrys. They were doing plenty of what you might call orientation type flights...

    Welcome Kentish Man, My mate, a fruit farmer has asked me to put a colony in a large poly tunnel with strawberry's just coming into flower. Thought I would give it a try, after all he gives me use of a barn etc for storage. If its not working (bees confused etc) then we can always move them...

    just to say in my 3 years beekeeping I used Jenter box fist and she laid in every cell, got about 8 Q's as a result. Last year, did the Clive de Brun course at Stoneleigh (excellent) and grafted, only to find brace comb covering the cells! So, this year I think I'll try the Jenter again...

    I have been asked to put some hives in an orchard, fine. Further, I have been told that the land owner currently has a field (of unknown size) that is currently fallow. My question is: what would you try to pursuide them to plant, given the practicalitys of things. i.e. Borrage needs a contract...

    Dove Tail Joints

    A good freind of mine (a joiner) is making me some boxes, and considering selling them. He is concerned about the amount of end grain that is exposed on the standard joints and is considering dove tails. Is there any reason why this joint appears not to be used. I hope this makes sense to you...
