    National Beehive Count ..... Hmmmm.

Jap 4x4's are all no good once they get a bit of age on them apart from the odd one I see a lot in the garage with engine problems mitsi heads & Nissan timing chains. Only reliable form of traction control is locking diffs arb or such like, electric works of the abs system and can get confused...

    National Beehive Count ..... Hmmmm.

Land rover do not produce a proper 4x4 anymore even the new defender looks like a hairdresser car. One of my farmers has a 200 disco which I might convert to a pickup if the chassis is ok I get seven hives on my 90 but could do with carrying a few more when I move the bees.

    Oil Seed Rape (Wales)

2015 was my second year moving to the rape average yield was 19lb a hive which was well below the 44lb in 2014 but from 4 colony's I built nine that brought in an average of 24lb by august which I was pleased with as my aim was to expand colony's in 2015. Those that did not travel did much...

    What Feeder To Use

Jumbo rapids from CWJ are good value and hold plenty enough for use at out apiary's. I use 4 pinters at home and fill up each evening.

    Swienty poly hives

Cheers I have reduced the entrance width with a thin strip of wood because of wasps but I thought the size of the entrance might deter mice. I do hate mouse guards they always seem to get blocked up with dead bees in January.

    Swienty poly hives

Sorry should have said I always use guards on my wooden hives I just wondered if the poly needed them as the entrance is quite narrow as standard but better safe than sorry I guess.

    Fragile Planet.....Any good?

A newbie in Wrexham told me that they were closed down, this was last week but I cannot confirm as I don't know anyone else who goes to them. The customer service comments are correct I went to the store with the intention of purchasing ten complete hives and they just ignored me and did not...

    8oz jars

I charge £4.50 for 12oz and do get the odd customer complain that it is expensive but they keep coming back for more, a bit of education helps as most people do not know how much work is involved and equipment costs.
