    Never thought they were,but was interested in what they had been using as fuel Not sure what fuel but would think both coal and wood in most cases over the years. Most have been old disused chimneys that have been blocked of at the bottom and ventilation cowls at the top.

    What kind of fires were they,coal or log burners.? None off them were in use at the time the bees were in there.

    I Have removed bees from chimneys 5 times. None have been varoa free and the last one had a heavy load plus DWV.

    Price of logs

    "If you are having a log burner fitted ensure that the flu, the tube out of the back is at least 8 inches in diameter" 8 inch minimum for a open fire but not a log burner or multi fuel stove. Some stoves can have a 5 inch flue.

    how long for new queen to mate

    Leave for another 2 weeks. Can take up to three weeks for queens to mate.

    more than 1 egg in cells

    Hi all I checked one of my hives today to see if my new queen (emerged 3 weeks ago) has mated and started laying. I saw eggs but alo noticed some cells had 2 and 3 eggs in. I hav'nt seen this before so not sure if this is normal or not with a newly mated quenn. If not normal can you you tell me...

    Did anyone go to the Lincoln Auction?

    Nucs went for about £80 to £140. Hives went for £95 to £140. I picked up a nice colony for £95.
