    Jacking it in?

7 years ago I went into the winter with 10 hives and had 1 at the beginning of Spring, I now successfully run over a 100 hives. When I mentor people in their first 2 years and even when I see experienced beekeepers - they do not shake the bees off the frames properly - too timid, very few bees...

    Petrol

Francis Moard? - where do they get them from??? Hope he never becomes Minister of Defence or Chancellor. We should stuff him in a jerry can if he comes up with that again during the swarming season.

Health & Safety Requirements For A Beehive At A School

Hello Essex Bee I am a teacher and I put 2 hives on top of a walled roof on our school - after 3 weekends of some little git climbing on top of the roof and kicking the hives over - they didn't stay up there long. It should be the school doing the risk assessment, insurance etc - if not, I...

    Neopoll

Hello All I come on this forum quite a bit but I tend to read comments and videos - rather than get involved in debates and comments, so I try to keep threads and comments to a minimum. Anyway, does anyone know how I could contact the manufacturer of Neopoll - email, telephone number etc...

    Bee inspector

Hello All - and especially to Keith (Pipewrench) I just wanted to note that I sold Keith the nuc via the forum and I am very pleased that its still doing very very well. There is certainly no need to leave the forum, not on my part, and I appreciated your earlier PM stating how well the nuc was...

    Established queen being balled?

If I introduce a new queen and inspect after 7 days and they still look a bit aggressive towards her I give them a good spray with sugar syrup mixed with vanilla essence. Thats worked well for me in the past.

Hello John..... Got a new Nail-gun?

I bought the Thornes nail gun which is OK and does the job. I also use a Stanley nail gun so I have 2 - although I did about 2000 frames this year so its not a luxury piece of kit like it would be to some people. Thanks Tim

    Advice for new Nuc

If you have any sense, follow the advice of Chris on the first page. Put into box and feed sugar syrup. I often split the brood with empty foundation and feed sugar syrup - within 5 days this will be drawn out and full of eggs. You need to be an experienced very good beekeeper to do this...

    Latex gloves

I always use white powdered latex gloves. 100 pairs for £5.99 from a beauty therapy company called capital. They are brilliant and I would never use anything else now.

    Nosema nuc?

Happens a lot to newly made nucs. I wouldn't say that you've got nosema, just the young bees are a little stressed and the old bees often have a poo leaving the nuc - the little so and sos.
