What did you do in the Apiary today?

Sandwell: Considering I was 'somewhat reduced' early in the year, things are not looking too bad! The Demaree is doing very well. The queen is an exceptional layer, so does her job in the lower BB, leading to many bees moving into the upper BB. They have a second super up there as well now...

    Not for the faint hearted....

*Puts down glass of wine and drinks a litre of water.........* 😮 I have noticed how hot I can get doing inspections. I do drink loads of water, but often after the job. I gather this is the wrong way round really! Thank you......I will correct it. Many years ago, a friend of mine in his...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I've been less busy than my bees today. I added a couple of supers to some of the Selly Oak hives, as they have noticed the lime trees flowering now. It looks like it could be a bumper year! I have a lot of bean-field honey to get into jars. That's going to be fun as it's now pretty solid...

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

I've bee struggling to extract my surprise early honey crop. It came about due to many acres of field beans being planted down at the farm. I have read the posts made a few years ago about bees and beans. Whatever the truth is, I do not doubt that the honey I have is from the beans that...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I have been to Croatia four times in the summer. It can be so hot. I cannot imagine wearing a bee-suit when it is like that! A Swienty Breeze suit with nothing worn underneath may be the only answer I think?:ROFLMAO:

    i think bees attract bees

I picked up a third swarm from the allotments where one of my apiaries is only the other day. The resident bees are very well looked after to prevent them swarming, but that doesn't stop some plot holders from thinking the swarms come from my bees! I had an allotment at this site five years...
