    Honey gate - Non drip?

    When I shut the tap wife whips the full jar away to cap and replaces with an empty one, works for us. Using a Thornes T0024 many years old currently £8 very few drips.

    Statutory duty to report apiaries with Varroosis 🙄 from 21st April

    I gather that by making varroa a notifiable disease it keeps us in line with the EU and might make it easier for British bee keepers to export bees to the EU, however, wasn't it declassified as notifiable because just about every hive had some. I'll still be notifying the SOfS George Eustice...

    Moving hives 2 miles?

    In recent cold spell moved four hives about 25 m, left them closed up for 2 days. Only about 100 bees returned to the old location. We've had to move hives about a mile twice last year, both times in cold weather, kept them in for a couple of days and no problems.

    Next time I'm at the computer will simply look up who the Secretary of State is and email him to let him know all my hives have varroa, job done and how pointless is that. George Eustice I think. The bit not quoted above is the unlimited fine not reporting is punishable by, a bit over the top.

    Maisemore sale

    Me too, they're certainly not coming out in order of ordering. Still, have some bits from Thornes arriving tomorrow to play with. It does seem like The Maisemore deliveries turn up almost out of the blue.
