    Extracting Set Up

Lino is cheap and easy to clean, make sure you measure it so it goes up the wall a bit all the way around to contain the water when washing down.

    Sublimox o ring size

I've used these, they work perfectly well.

    Uses for gaffa tape.

Yep, put national supers on MD hives, MD supers on Langs, Lang supers on MD hives. Taped up roofs, hands, suits, hives for sublimox, mini plus........ Pretty much anything.... Don't go anywhere without it.

    expanding brood.

Yes this works but it's not the fastest! They move down faster if the crownboard is cut to the size of both hives rather than a little hole. Feed them well too.

    Foundationless for cut comb ?

I use the same frames and find you get much better results if you use full sheets of unwired foundation, I often find unfinished frames when trying starter strips so just use sheets now. For normal summer honey I put 2-3 in per box but with crops like borage you can get 2-3 boxes of all...

    Feeding

I use bought sugar and mix mine in honey barrels, I have a roofing burner under the barrel (x2) and heat the water up via gas bottles. It takes me about 1 1/2 hour from filling the tanks to decanting into old invert tubs. Most of that time is waiting for the water to warm so your away doing...

    Cloake Board

I take a super off if there's one on there to cram them in even more, and use a large rapid feeder on top, my grafting frames are narrowed as much as possible to push the pollen frames up tight to the grafting bars. The only time I've had bad results is early in the season when the weathers...

    14x12

I was watching Mark make some special order foundation for Abelo the other day when I was weighing in some wax/collecting foundation. They do still produce Abelos foundation, also they do produce 14x12, it's just the wiring of all foundation that's done by out workers.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I put an old t shirt over my steering wheel which grips the frame and have all my bars on the top of the dashboard or the one I'm working on resting on my thighs. My breeding material and finishers are all on the same site away from my workshop.

    French Dadant hives / frames

The French frames are deeper and top bar is shorter

    Borage Vs phacelia

Try Vipers Bugloss (Echium) Bees and other pollinators love it and it flowers for a very long time, the honey is good too, similar to borage.

    Treatment Free

I work solely as a Beefarmer and have no other form of income, there's no way I could risk not treating! This years treatment was biowar and will be oxalic vape. I've just filled bucket number 530 and still have borage to extract and buckets of slop to process, God knows what my harvest would be...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I need to make a start on my borage extraction, struggling to get motivated! Feedings almost done apart from the minis
