    Wax moth

During my inspection on return from my holidays I found one of my hives completely empty no bees! On lifting my frames brood and honey supers are covered in wax moth residue with live grubs. I plan to freeze all frames and clean boxes. Would you recommend treating all with blow torch and frames...

Busy bees at back of hive?

How great is this forum!! Yes I have got one of those hives and yes it was the mesh pin that had come away creating a small gap. I have replaced the floor with a screwed secured one! Thanks everyone for you quick response.

Busy bees at back of hive?

Just took a quick visual of my hive and there are lots of bees going into/outside the rear entrance to inspection board/OMF! Any ideas why this is happening, I took the inspection board out and there were lots of bees in there!! I know the bees can't get into the hive due to the mesh floor...

    First honey super?

They all seem happy Just finished my inspection, the BB is nice spread across! There are two 14 x12 frames with foundation still to draw, I saw the queen she looked good. I placed a honey super on with 10 foundation frames and a QE! There was some very good brood present. Happy days

    First honey super?

Can anyone tell me when is the best time to put my first super onto my BB? I am guessing that a queen excluder will also be required? There seems to be conflicting opinions on here! Thanks

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Entrance block My Bees were so so busy yesterday, I removed the entrance block to give them more space to get in! I am sure this is the right thing to do?

    Advice please?

Sorry should made myself clear, nothing happens until the spring! The photo was taken in September on a very warm day! Yes I was given a swarm and the bees we put into super frames! Sadly it's given me this work to do. I appreciate your comments, I will look into the bailey change? Never heard...

    Advice please?

I have a situation where my hive has brood chamber but have normal shallow national hives, unfortunately my bees have built comb below the bottom bar of frames and there is a lot of hanging down comb that they have built! My questions are these. 1. What is the best way to deal with this? 2...
