    Interviews with Beekeepers

I was one of the lucky people who won a copy of the book from Steve's blog. It's wonderful, a totally unique publication which will be of interest to everyone on this forum. The first two interviews alone with Murray MacGregor and Mike Palmer are worth the price of the book. Learning from such...

    Drone sperm

A source for this information is "Bee Sex essentials" by Larry Connor. I don't have the book with me right now but I will take a look when I can. Amm

I wish!! We get the first one at a discounted price and then pay the same as everybody else for the rest. Though having a monostrained area means we can breed true to type from our own stocks with no trouble.

New Queen Swi Bine help needed

I assume you would knock out both bees and queen? Saw something like that on a youtube video of a big south american queen breeding operation, interesting. edit: found it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xxe3mV04kfM&feature=related , actually they were using cells but worth a watch anyway

    Queen mating flight

As far as I can remember Ruttner says 8km in "Breeding techniques and selection for breeding the honeybee". However this was in conjunction with flooding the mating apiary with desirable drones.

New Queen Swi Bine help needed

Standard practice for introducing virgin queens into mini nucs in my local breeding group is to pop the wet queen into the mini nuc and then dump the cupful of wet bees in on top of her. However this is done on a fairly large scale and success rate is about 70%, so with your one queen you might...
