Look what I have just found in my shed!

Lovely, found one just about the same size hanging from a top bar in the empty end of my very active Top Bar Hive. Sorry but that one had to go. However we had lots of wasp nests within 500m of the hives last year and didnt have any trouble. I believe they can sense a weak hive though and become...

    Feeling smug

I was unaware the my teen daughter had a carpet. It was here room and her responsibility. However now she has left home and has a flat of her own it is always nearly spotless. Meanwhile if your at a loose end you can come and help me. I have a shed full of boat bits, sails for four boats need...

    usual Euro b.....s

Surely there is a selling point here. We dont have gm(widespread) here so beekeepers should be publicising the fact that uk honey does not contain GM whereas your imports probably do.

    November Flowering OSR

If it is winter sown osr flowering now I suspect it will be a write off. The plant will be exhausted trying to flower and trying to seed so soon with no growth period. There wont be time for it to seed and ripen. I wouldnt be surprised if it gets ploughed up over winter and resown in the spring...

This is particularly common in fields re sown with OSR. It is normally pretty patchy and short. The small areas around...

    Parachute silk

How much is there? I would love to buy it off you if there are a few metres. I desperatley need some original material to make a new spinaker for my vintage dinghy. The original one was made of very fine cotton and is very frail.

    Badger protection

Try rags soaked with creosote or diesel on the routes they use into your garden. They dislike the smell. Other than that you could do what Yeo Valley Farms did to protect their cattle from Tb and fence the whole place with badger fencing dug into the ground but it will cost you a few jars of...

    Qeeen Cells in hive today

If they supercede now how will the new queen mate and become viable? No drones in my hives for many weeks now.

    Agricultural forage

If there are cattle one of the best forages would be a white clover mix with the grass. Puts nitrates into the soil and is very palatable.
