Thank you - one other is south facing but I do worry they will overheat in summer - but I’ll clean this one out and put on the south facing wall. Should I try to shade them from the summer heat a little?
Thank you - I was afraid of that. I left it for over a year and you should clean them out to ensure no mites and sand off any rough edges. I wasn’t sure what I was looking at as they look dead but can’t work out why that would be 😟
Yes - the roof section is hinged and it has 3 layers of holes - when you tip back the roof it reveals the top layer of holes under Perspex - the rest you can’t view easily unless you take it apart to clean.
I keep checking and haven’t seen anything come and go from the nests yet!? Hopefully it will be nice at the weekend and I can spend a bit more time checking 🥰
Thank you so much - this is such a friendly and informative forum and it’s good to be in the company of people who appreciate bees as much as I do. I’ve been reading through other posts and never realised there was so much to beekeeping 🥰
A person after my own heart. They’d be welcome of course - but I really really want bees. Before our lavender got old and woody the bees used to sleep on it and on the walls of our house - you could gently touch the bees while they were asleep and they were so beautiful. Wasps will never let you...
Thank you for your kind words. May I ask When is the latest you’d expect the bees to leave the bee house as some of mine are still full? Great photo! 😊
Here’s the garden - not much to look at right now as most plants are small plugs but give it a year and I’m hoping it will be lovely 😊 (I’m new to gardening and all plants were chosen for pollinators).
