So I went to check hives...to check the fondant levels.....I have an eke on each of my hives above the Crown board then fondant accessible by coming up from underneath the Crown board (if you follow) One of my hives has bees massing and gathering in the eke....when I went to check the fondant...

Hi there, So I have a hive that has almost filled a super...but only a little of it is capped... it's quite heavy....I reckon about 3/4 full (by it's weight) The hive is absolutely rammed....the bees are still all over the frames what should I do with it? I want to start treating with...

Can I ask....is it obvious when you have a hive suffering with CBPV....I've read up on the symptoms....and I know what they are in theory....but have not had any first hand experience of it....I was wondering if it was a disease that kinda "know it when you see it" sorta thing?

I'm in exactly the same position.....in fact I posted an almost identical question the other day.....in the end as people here advised I added a second BB to two prolific hives.....I'm going to monitor them and see how it develops.

I deffo agree with the advice against clumsy gloves, I find nothing puts a hive's back up quicker than fudging your way through a hive with thick gloves! As far as scent .. ...I have definitely found that after doing a bunch of hive inspections if I sit in the garden afterwards I often get bee...

.....thanks for the advice about the second Brood box in the nuc! I have another question about second Brood boxes....I have a hive which I requeened with a new this year queen.....the hive has two supers on it already ..one full ..one getting started.....Queen has layed up the first brood...

There are no supers on the hive....I literally only created this as a nuc three weeks ago.... it's gone from a three frame nuc to a rammed full national brood box in that time.....it has caught me by surprise really
