Glorious day today. New queen added to the queen less hive 🤞. Added a super and qx to two. Disappointed to find wax moth damage to some of the frames in the supers. Did so much work on them going into winter, freezer first, sprayed with Dipel . Put into the supers which had been torched. Wrapped...

Yes I agree, a new queen arrived today to replace a feisty colony, would have to try a few things before id destroy the hive, but as you say it's a personal choice

We have a queen from Lawrence being shipped Wednesday, really excited, think one hive is queen less if not a testy queen is going to be replaced

Quick question. If the hives are on double brood, what am I looking for before I put on a super?

Just had a look for Poppy as that was the only hive we couldn't find eggs, although they did have a small amount of capped brood, no eggs couldn't find a queen. Took them back to one brood box as the colony is small and the top box has split so needs some tlc. Ordered a new queen just in case...

Yes I did send an email but no response,just emailed Jane hutt, they seem to have had a lot of publicity creating a corridor of trees which I assume is going to cost the tax payer quite a lot, I just rang them to delay mowing for a month or two, see if I get a response but I'm not holding my breath
