    Moving hive 60-70 metres/yards

Not really practical to move it 3 feet a day due to obstacles such as my house and a large koi pool. I don't think my wife would be too impressed either as the hive progresses in 3 foot steps across the deck.

    Moving hive 60-70 metres/yards

Thanks gents. It sounds like a plan.

    Interesting behaviour

Thanks for that. It sounds obvious now that you have put it down in black and white. I shall don the suit in the morning, shake out any lingering bees and plug the gap.

    Moving hive 60-70 metres/yards

Hi all, At some point in time between the end of autumn and spring I want to relocate my hive between 60 and 70 metres/yards and would appreciate any advice on the subject.

    Interesting behaviour

Hi all, On Sunday afternoon I changed the Apilife Var strip in my hive (week 3). On Monday a large number of bees had decamped from the hive and taken up residence between the varroa board and the OMF of the hive. Basically the gap was crammed with bees. They were still there late into the...

Where to put the APILIFE VAR

So as usual with beekeeping the options are varied and opinions divided. All I need to do now is to decide which advice to follow.

Where to put the APILIFE VAR

I expect the answers obvious but then I am just a confused Newbie. So I have removed the top super and extracted a few pounds of honey which was a bonus as I wasn't expecting any in the first year. I now have the brood box with a QE on top and then the super full of winter feed honey for...

    Super cleaning

    Yes, just the one hive.

    Super cleaning

Being new to beekeeping I had sort of formed the impression that storing the super wet would encourage unwanted guests?

    Super cleaning

Hi all, Once honey has been extracted from a super how long should it be left in place on the hive for the bees to clean it up so that it can be stored dry? Thanks. Martin.

    Help, angry Bees

Inspection Update Inspected bees again today. Reverted to my usual afternoon routine (3:30pm-ish). Used manipulation cloths, nitrile gloves and a water-spray as backup to the smoker. The bees were generally calm although the odd one or two were a little were a little bit agitated but - no...

    Help, angry Bees

Graham40, an interesting point as previously I had inspected the hive in the afternoon at around 15:00 and this time it was the morning at 10:00. In future I will inspect the hive at around 14:00-ish, if possible. Suzi Q, thanks for the information, I will give it a try.
