    Sold Beekeeping Job Opportunity

I think you could blag it for 6-8 months of the year (especially if your queen grafts kept 'failing') but outside of that you'd be struggling to justify 1 day a week 😂 With only 80 hives you're not even producing that much honey that'll need delivering 🤔

    Sold Beekeeping Job Opportunity

Wow, full time pay plus benefits for a part-time job! I'd jump at that if I was single

    This year's honey price

Good for you 👍 Glad you managed to sell in the end it does get very frustrating hearing from some folk how easy it is to sell honey 🙄 Hopefully you're not moving to Staffordshire - you'll be out of the frying pan and into the fire. Most folk have no money and the rest only value German cars and...

    Swienty breeze suit

Yep, you're right, that's what I meant. The zips are compatible but the length isn't and would leave a gap at the front. I'm going to have another look at it to see if I can bodge something or maybe try a hat with a wider brim

    Swienty breeze suit

Yeah it's the standard two zips that start at the back and meet at the front. It's a nylon YKK zip but it's far larger (gauge?) than either the BBwear or Sheriff suits (I've got both). If you could attach the BB fencing style hood to the Swienty you'd have a great suit IMHO

    Swienty breeze suit

I do like this suit other than the hood which I find a pain. The mesh constantly presses on to my face and is so stiff it acts like a cheese grater! I've tried wearing a baseball cap to no avail. Bit of a long shot but does anyone know which, if any, replacement hoods might fit the zipper. I...

First experience of hive theft issues!

Ad on FB ATM - £550 for a double brood, super plus bees and 2022 buckfast queen. At that sort of price no wonder hives are becoming a target.

    Honey Wanted Bulk honey

Seller currently on BFA website - spring £3, summer £3.50 per lb in buckets. Nearly every call I'm taking is folk trying to sell to me. Seems the country is awash with honey. Personally, bulk and internet sales have dropped off a cliff. Shop sales have reduced significantly while market sales...

    Asian hornets

Very nice. Similar in principle to my own floors, however, mine only have a single entrance. I really like the sliding(?) blank to close the inner entrance off 👍

    SBI vacancies

That's the impression I got from the SBI who comes out to me. Deliver groceries for £15 a day less with little stress, responsibility or commute. Keep 10 colonies for 500lb, there's pretty much the difference.

    SBI vacancies

I did wonder whether that was the trigger? I considered it myself if I can't make commercial work but only on a PT basis, no way I'm working full time again if I can help it! 🤣

    SBI vacancies

10 up for grabs. It would appear the seasonal option is now defunct and when not on beekeeping duties you'll be part of the plant inspection teams?

    Fondant

Bookers put a block on my sugar transaction this week. The manager had to press a few buttons on his computer to release it. I'm trying to stockpile enough to last me through next season. By then I'll know whether it's worthwhile staying in the industry.

    Heather 2022! Extraction advice

I use a hydro press for heather and it's pretty effective. The frames are thoroughly warmed and the press is lined with a brewing filter bag. Honey comes out surprisingly clean. Would help if the whole thing was heated as the cold water in the bladder does cool things down quickly. Next time I...
