    To avoid chilling brood etc what is the possibility of putting your spare hive in the building, attempting the transfer and then sealing up the hive prior to removal?

    White spirit, removes road tar from car paintwork, can't see that it wouldn't work, and it won't damage the paint.

    Some new evidence for you detectives, Test frame inserted with eggs and very young larvae on Thursday (4 days ago), pictures of the test frame shown taken today (Monday). Capped brood, apparently (to me) normal, and no Queen cell/s. No sign now after a thorough search of any eggs in the brood...

    Probably getting too late in the season now, but would the introduction of a test frame with young fertilised eggs/larvae trigger the production of Queen cells in the hope of producing a new Queen?
