Hi all. Due to family problems I am going to re home my bees. Some will be in poly nucs which I am going to sell. I have been asked If I can send them in the post. What is the best way to make them safe to be sent.

I am down south and had only 1 super from my 10 hives that had any honey in. I think that the cold spell, in July, sent the hives into winter mode, the queen stopped laying,and the bees consumed the honey. We have had bad weather since so I am feeding my hives with 630ml of water to 1 kg sugar...

Yes I know they are queenless as there is no brood or eggs in the hive. Many thanks as my brain in getting better regarding to my lovely bees.

Hi. If I have a hive that doesn't have a queen or day old eggs could I get a frame, from another hive, with some day old eggs in and put it in the queenless hive would the bees bring on another queen?

Many thanks pargyle. I was talking about rose boxes as that was the way I started but I am now changing to national. I will take your advice by doing it by making sure that the queen is in the nat box and put a queen excluder between the boxes . I just love learning more and more about keeping...

Hi all. My bees have wintered with a national brood box at the bottom and an OSB box on top.I now want to get them out of the OSB and into the Nat. brood box. I assume that I should swap the boxes over so the OSB is under the Nat. brood box so they should move up into the nat. box? Am I correct ?

Hi all. My wife wants to get me a flow hive for Christmas but would it be ok for the bees as I have heard that it is made of plastic and it may upset the natural flow in the hive? Any ideas before I give my wife the go ahead!!

Yes and I am ready to do no. 4 today and still getting around 50 mites per hive. Opps!! got that wrong!! Just checked and 2 hives with very few mites, 2 hives with around 100 and the rest with over 150 so I had better do this one and see how is goes.
