I hived a swarm last Friday night in a poly nuc, I checked all was well this morning and to my horror noticed the plastic disc on the entrance was shut, and they were locked in, it was definitely open when I hived them. It was then I noticed the "self tapper" holding the disc on to the hive...

Checked this morning lost both my hives, plenty of stores fed candy as a precaution around new year suspect disease, many dead bees in hives candy hardly used??I have contacted bee inspecter to come and check for something more seriuos ie afb or efb. Devastated to see such losses

No they are hanging around very close to the Hive cannot reach the buggers, set a bait Hive on the off chance they really like me and will come back home :)

I've kept Bees for a long time now, and they never cease to surprise me, just when my mind is on other things, like supers enough stores etc etc etc i failed to thoroughly check my Hives and the little B******s in one Hive swarmed yesterday ....... Oh what a fantastic hobby this is.:)

Educating Bees Just as a point worth mentioning, you will be given loads of advice on here some valuable, some not so valuable and some plain misinformed. You will need to sort out the difference only experience will guide you. In my Ten Years I have yet to find one of my bees that can read, so...

I agree with Marks I thought the answer to a perfectly straight question was rude and sarcastic,people need help not "Attitude" they may not have searched all the forum, they may not know how? My Gran used to tell me if you are going to say something make sure it is BOTH True and kind, if not...

Yes i have swifts as well taking Bees,but on the wing,so its not "in your face"robbery:(

Apart from the last couple of weeks it has rained forever! Consequently most Birds have suffered from a dearth of Insects, I have noticed recently a Great Tit taking a close Interest in my hives,taking a much closer Interest myself,the little ######## is actually flying onto the hive landing...

Clip or not to clip Don't clip,leave it all to the natural world,saying that,i don't do many inspections just let bees do what bees do! In fact i am not really a beekeeper i am a bee landlord,and rarely collect my rent :)

Agree I do see posts on here that i believe are rude and sometimes arrogant,just do what you would do in any other situation Ignore them, and use all the good advice that most posts contain, personally i have made nearly all of the mistakes i see on here and some even more stupid :)

Wife out shopping i am sitting in the garden in the shade building supers the sweet smell of cedar and beeswax,having a roll-up and a cup of tea,my girls busy on the flowers,popping in for a drink out of the fish pond. Summertime and the living is easy..............:sifone:

I have Been to do my weekly Winter check this Morning, Bees still active bringing in loads of Pollen(Yellow), thought i would have my feet up by now with a good book .

Two Queens I have had two queens living in the same hive, i left well alone and they sorted it out themselves, as they always do
