    Donating to food bank.

Thanks for your replies everyone, I'll put my normal label on it.

    Donating to food bank.

I don't think it's been overheated as it's in contact with the heat for such a short time and hasn't lost it's fresh honey taste but I wondered if the same rules applied to honey that you're giving away as to honey that's sold. I never sell heated honey from the uncapping tray. It's all food...

    Donating to food bank.

P.S. I know that legally it should be marked as bakers or heated honey if sold but is that the same if donated?

    Donating to food bank.

I've had a really good harvest this year and have lots of honey from cappings that have been through a heated uncapping tray. I usually use it myself but have too much this year so wondered about giving several jars to a food bank. Does anyone know about the labelling rules for this please. If I...

Watching Mike Palmer at NHS 😊

I registered but missed it all due to unforeseen circumstances, does anyone know if any of the video's or work shops be available to watch once the show has finished? I'm hoping they'll come up on the NHS You Tube Channel or that there'll be a link on the NHS website.

    Steam wax melter?

I bought a large heavy duty rubber type dustbin from Wickes( am I allowed to say that), then drilled a hole in the lid for the steamer hose and a hole the the bottom for the melted wax to run out. All the old frames go inside then the dustbin is stood on some bricks or similar with the hole over...

    Honey at 20%

Nearly all my honey was capped at 19% this year, that's a first for me. I'll try it in my warming cabinet for 24 hours and see what happens.

    Bees and pacemakers

I had a pacemaker fitted 3 weeks ago and since then my bees have been quite tetchy. Is there anybody else here who's noticed the same thing after having a pacemaker fitted? I wondered if the electrical signal could be affecting them or it may be sheer coincidence. I hope it's the latter.

    Pacemaker & aggression

I had a pacemaker fitted a couple of weeks ago and wondered if anybody else who's had one has noticed that it changed their bees temperament. A friend helped me today and my bees were definitely more unsettled than they have been before which is possibly a coincidence but it made me wonder.

    Do bees attract bees?

Ive had 3 swarms in 4 days arrive in my apiary this week 2 of them prime swarms and definitely not mine. I had eight last year all in the same area so I'd say yes bees are attracted to bees. In August last year I noticed bees flying from a hedge on the edge of the field and on cutting lots of...

    Aldi: Steamer for wax extraction

I've made one using a wallpaper steamer and strong plastic dustbin with a tight fitting lid. A hole is drilled in the lid just the right size to take the steamer hose and a hole in the bottom for the wax to run out. I place the dustbin on a small stool or box with the hole over the edge and a...

    Wax processing

I use a strong plastic dustbin with a tight fitting lid then drill a hole in the top to take the hose of a wallpaper steamer and a hole in the bottom for the melted wax to run out. Put all the old frames inside and let the steamer run till its empty then your fames will be free of wax and just...
