    Where is the Queen?

Question: If she then does start laying after that long, aren't a) all the bees flyers, so do they revert back to nursing bees and b) they almost lifex anyway?

    Thymovar Treatment in a Nuc

I have a recently build nuc (approx 2 weeks, build with 2 cells of brood, one with a QC, and a full frame of stores). I've discovered a few drones crawling away from the nuc with wing deformation, so am keen to treat for varroa. I have some Thymovar strips which I want to use with the nuc (in...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Made the most of the last of the good weather and went through my hive, having removed the second batch of varroa strips. To split or go double brood box?

The 6-frame nuc I obtained 5 weeks ago is (I think) is going great guns. The remaining frames downstairs have been drawn out and are full and the super is filling up very fast (about 8 frames at various stages - one or two starting to get capped off). Two weeks ago I discovered one (what Mr...

    Hive busy with drones

Day 3 of being an official beekeper and the novelty of watching my progeny hasn't worn off yet! I was struck by the number of drones flying in and out of the hive (and their size!). I have 6 frames recently transfered from a nuc, 3 fresh frames and dummies in the remaining space. There were...
