    Hive hygiene

What do people use to clean their hive tools between the inspections of colonies? I use soda crystals in water and a Brillo to scrub tools and hands between inspections - but is this enough to get rid of any nasties that may be lurking...Thank you!

Fermented Honey - feed to bees?

Yes, I did try the honey and it tasted fine to me... despite the fact that it may be tainted with last year’s Apiguard (which, incidentally, I could not taste). H

Fermented Honey - feed to bees?

I am thinking about my winter preparations and have a super of heather honey that was on my bees last winter. It was not extracted as it had been on them whilst they were treated with Apiguard. The combs have been stored in a sealed plastic box in the shed for the year. When I opened the lid it...

    Thymovar

Hello, I am a new beekeeper. I collected 2 swarms at the beginning of May - and now find I have a massive varroa problem. I have used Hiveclean to begin varroa control, but have just been advised to use Thymovar. Any opinions on Thymovar - pros and cons would be appreciated. Thank you!:)
