I gave this method a go - think I made a critical error in creating the stack too far away from the main apiary so I essentially ended up making a honey magnet from the aroma coming through the clearer boards - there were bees EVERYWHERE trying to get back into the boxes.
Might try again next...
My sister lives in Cambridge and is normally pretty good at flower identification - however this one has her stumped. I've tried to identify it using internet based plant id websites but have not succeeded.
Can anyone put us out of our misery please? :)
Checked on a hive that had an inch sq test portion of eggs on Friday - VQ should've emerged around 17/5 but no brood up to that point so thought she was queenless and before I united it with another queenright colony I wanted to make sure they were Q-
So, of course, today I find frames of eggs...
Thanks for the replies - will investigate BT as we are with them and we also do pay the line rental upfront but I'd never cottoned on to the Caller ID aspect. Our phones aren't BT so maybe that needs addressing as well
We use a normal telephone answering machine for our business - I get a text message from it if we are out when someone calls and leaves a message, then I can call in and hear the message.
However we get situations where someone leaves a message wanting us to get back to them about a quote for a...
This year I've made up 3 apidea - 2 first time round and 1 yesterday.
I kept the first 2 in the cool for 2 days, then added the QCs, 1 more day n the cool then put the apidea out in the main apiary. I had noticed that the apidea seemed to be constantly 'roaring' when in the cool which was...
Yes I was aware I was deviating from the plan - I had originally planned the 1st manip so that I could do the rematriation (!) of the queen on day 10/11, but the weather and work thwarted my plans so I ended up having to do the 2nd stage on Day 8
Lesson learned :)
Unfortunately my WS did as I feared after I repatriated HMQ on day 8 - they swarmed the next day :(
I knew I was taking a risk, but if I am messed up re timings on another occasion I think I'll just leave the Q with the brood half and let the 'swarm' part cobble along and then deal with the...
I've done one so far this year - but am not very hopeful as I had to cobble the timetable slightly due to circumstances:
Originally was due to do the initial move on Monday 15th but the weather had other ideas and I could only do the move on Weds 17th. Because of a commitment to travel pm Thurs...
Am sweating on getting into my 2 remaining non-swarm prep hives (as of 9 May) but weather has been so sh1te I haven't been able to open up. Fingers crossed for a window of opportunity tomorrow
