    Solitary bee project

This the the little bee at my work, filling a ridge tile with leaves! Constantly on the go :) do you think they follow any rules if the nest is moved? The ridge is only 2m above? Being a chippy I must of killed thousands of insects (not intentionally) but watching this bee working his socks off...

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

60 lengths of 225x20 yellow pine luckily for me foreman ordered the wrong lengths so there's a 700mm off cut on each one! Hopefully have some left at the end of the job! Nothing like offering a jar of honey to sweeten the deal ;)

    Bees Absconding from mating nucs

I have a nuc with a queen about to emerge. Is it common they do one if things aren't to their fancy

    British Native Bees

i wouldn't base anything on colour alone it's more dependent on where you live and what's around. If you don't want a another pass then on to someone sure others will want them! :)

    Ok thanks

    Stored frames

Got a frame of stores in the freezer that I want to give to my nuc. What's the prep for this? Do I need to bruise the capped stores? How long to people leave them to thaw

    Robbing nuc

After 3 days of rain My queenless split was low on stores so i decided to feed however this cause the main hive to start robbing them out. I got there around 9ish and could see them flying from the nuc back to the main hive. All I had was some foam so I just bloked up the entrance for now...

    Moving split

This is the only problem I could see it's 20mins away from my other apiary.

    Moving split

I've split one of my hives leaving the queen in its original place an The other box left to make their own queen in the same apiary. I'm looking to put the split on a a new site, is it better to move them now or let them make a new queen get mated And sorted then move them. Thinking better to do...

One more boring swarm prevention question

Move them outer frames in and they will draw them out quick enough :) Your nucs will probably of been young queens so congestion would be the most likely cause in my mind for swarm tigger, but they got the space so I'd think you be all good! Least you will have a year to get your head around...

One more boring swarm prevention question

what's your brood box like at the moment? How many frames drawn out? Guessing you got a 5 frame nuc, as long as you give them enough space you may be alright. I got mine last may and they ended the season with 1 super on top really just for added space they didn't have time to draw it all out.

    EMERGENCY sheep/bee attack...

I left the gate open once and the dog ran in and stuck is face in the entrance of one the hives he took 3 stings. Funny thing is it was the fastest thing he's ever learn he now sits by the gate without me even asking him
