Make some honey is the plan :-) came out a roof and is currently in a box awating pick up. Im tempted to put it on double brood, it is massive! I think there is a equal side collony still in the loft. Fingers crossed for more!

Quick one which I havent seen in a book. Why cant / dont people put a qx under the brood box to prevent swarming?

I agree with little john, the furthest I have gone is 1 mile, ive had three within half a mile!!! (Not mine)

Ha ha good plan, will do! Put them in the apiary and got a call for another swarm, little cast. Two in one night is a record. They were on a branch which was not as excting.

In the process of picking up this swarm. Made me laugh when they called saying they have a swarm in their pants!

Just collected my first solo swarm. Text book collection very pleased. I guess they were pleased to as they had been there since sunday inc the p***ing rain yesterday! Football sized so very chuffed!

Went to pick up my first ever harvest. Left with my super and another colony! Up to my magic number of 4 hives (no more splits now please bees). Extrated the honey and its lovely. I think its hawthorn from reading the description of honey tastes and there being lots of it around. A few more...

Does anyone know of any websites that describe the different flavours of honey? I have a little taste of the honey today and it was like toffee so was wondering which plant it was from.

Made up my first ever nuc today. One queen, a load of bees, 2x frames of brood, 1 frame split brood and stores, two frames of foundation and a block of fondant. Fingers crossed for a new queen in the original hive in a few weeks and im then officially a 3 hive man!!!!
