Where can I buy a stainles steel mixer for my OSR?

Hmmm. It's also a style a don't like. I am after one that looks like a traditional paint or plaster mixer. Not one that is a giant corkscrew. I can't believe there isn't someone, somewhere who has them. I sure tomorrow when the thousands of sleeping 'keepers awaken I'll have my answer...

    Oil seed rape

I have noticed in Hampshire the oil seed rape is just starting to turn. When are you planning on extracting your rape harvest? I don't want the bees to store "setting" honey in the replacement supers. Cheers!!! Happy harvesting....

    Extracting set honey

Fed up and sticky all over... What a P.I.A!!! All that effort and honey and cappings everywhere. Is it just me or is processing honey the worst part of keeping bees? Managed 50 lbs out of two colonies (plus 24 lbs earlier in the year from rape), and now I have to bottle and label the stuff...

    Extracting set honey

It's not about the economics If I wanted to make money it certainly wouldn't be keeping bees! I am really interested in getting the honey out. It seems the best way is to cut the foundation out and gently warm it until the honey melts but not the wax. I'm guessing doing this in the oven is...

    Extracting set honey

I took my supers off yesterday and all looked fine. Today I started extracting and have found a large amount of honey has set in the supers. I did fully extract the rape earlier in the year so it's not a hangover from that in case you ask. My question is this: What is the easiest way to...

    Help needed on supercedure (soon)

I have what I hope is a very quick question. I have a queen that is superceding. About 2 weeks ago I artificially swarmed the colony. Last weekend I noticed 2 charged cells with the original queen. I destroyed them but did not artificially swarm them as I had done that once already. Today...

Using a mini nuc with Queen Cell

I have a colony that was getting ready to supercede I believe (a couple of identical cells 1/2 way up a frame) so did an art. swarm last week. I have bought a mini nuc as I would like to try rearing a queen in this way. I have the original clipped queen (who is prolific and a non swarmer as it...
