    Thieving bar stewards

Dishmop. You are looking at this the wrong way. The Law does not allow you to be found out after having shot poachers. If you are not seen and they are not found, where is the problem?:rules:

Lurching from one disaster to another...

Looking at this another way, could the queen have been trapped outside the hive at some point, possibly lifted out on the crownboard & set up home under the mesh floor? The hive is still getting her pheromones through the mesh & carrying on as normal with her laying outside in the new comb? If...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Learned 2 lessons today. I have had a busy morning doing some repairs on a leaded window for a friend and Set up late to check the bees. One hive is doing very well & I wanted to check them as we are down for rain tomorrow. Lesson 1, Look up before opening a hive. I had already mentioned we are...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

1st visit of the year. Last time we had warm weather I was in South Wales. One of my 2 colonies survived the winter, the other started drone laying late in the season & they were too few to survive the winter. Looks as if I have a verroa problem in this hive and there were 3 empty queen cells...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Just had a look & done the Oxalic Treatment. WBC - 7 seams National - 4 seams Nuc box - 2 1/2 very active seams. Now trying to wash the Bee suit while the Dragon is doing some overtime.

    Another oxalic acid question

It might be getting late on for treatment, but 4 weeks ago I still had brood. The recent cold spell has me planning a quick look at the weekend, rain permitting, before a treatment if they are broodless. If there is brood in reasonable amounts, no treatment with oxalic this year, I will monitor...

How Much honey did you get this year?

I took 7lb early in the year to try it. Well they were my first colony last year. :) Last week extracted what was in the 2 supers and it came to another 21lb. Not bad for 1 hive this year by all accounts, but it works out as very expensive honey. :reddevil::reddevil:

Well, here's another fine mess you've gotten me into...

Has no-one mentioned 'The feeding by the 10,000'.

    First ever jar of honey

Congratulations. It's a good feeling isn't it. I took my first 8lb off earlier this year. Lets see how long it lasts once you have tasted it.

    Heading for the 40's

We are too. But ours is inches of rain.

    Uniting colonies

Even better. All I need now is good enough weather for me to open the hives. More heavy drought here this evening.

    Uniting colonies

I knew there would be an easy way to do it.not worthy There are 2 supers on at the moment. 10 frames come out (Weather permitting) & the brood frames drop in. Just been out & moved the Nuc it's 1st 3 feet toward the WBC. Thanks for the replies everyone.

    Uniting colonies

Interesting solution using air freshener, I wonder what is under the sink? Plumberman, I build all my own kit except frames, Thinking about it, I'm not sure if the bottom of that Nuc was put on with screws so it would be easy to replace. I must have a look. Thanks.
