    Found a new Queen!

    Oh, to be ab;e to get into the hives again .... so cold, windy and wet in Essex, UK. One hive, coincidentally named SWARMY, looks very busy at entrance, even in cold windy weather but daren't open hive just yet. Next Wednesday may be warm enough. Everything crossed to check for swarm cells...

    One of our hives took 5 test frames before we knew she was Q+. HRH had taken a long brood break due to heat of the Spring and lack of forage early Summer. Hive now heaving. My bee partner was ready to give up on the 2nd frame. I, however, am a Taurus ♉. Keep the faith.

    Sorry. Been so busy. Yes, she made it... or at least they are now queenright. The cells I provided were chewed down. BIAS found last week. Couldnt find her to mark and left alone for a while. It must be her as there was nothing available to make another. I am puzzled as to what happened to her...

    Fencing for allotment apiary

    Heras panels and scaffold netting, with tarps covering the side adjacent to another plot holder. We use one heras panel as a gate with bike locks top and bottom.

    Same happened to me today. Queen on landing board, circle of attendants surrounding her. She seemed very lethargic so I caged her and went in. We had inspected on 27th June to find just play cups and today, on 30th, all full QCs and mostly capped??? 3 days??? I made a split with a frame...
