    ethics

    Trespass not a problem as far as I can see, report matter to Police and advise thenm of marks, I would have thought that the thief would be unaware of the marks, theft of bees and equipment have i beleve been prosecute here.

    Thans for the comments, will look at the Corti, price seems to be on a par. Can not find chick tec omn internet yet but will keep looking. The tip re the Cockerals misfiring at this time of year has saved me soon money as I have been checking out e bay a lot.:nature-smiley-016:

    Book for new beekeeper

    I would say Hooper is the best book that I have read, will dig out David Cramp's book. I would say that Hooper is a serious book,not pompus or high brow and is well worth reading and has stood the test of time.

    chickens at auctions

    Should have said its a good idea to keep any new hens apart from your old flock for a couple of weeks, that way any infection etc will be noted and hopefully will not have affected your existing birds.

    Sharing of apiaries - good or not good?

    I plan to start this spring keeping bees and will be sharing the apiary with a friend who like me is a novice; I hope the benifits are as described, will let you know as the season progresses.
