    Correx crown boards

I bought 900x600x4mm clear twin wall sheet for our solar wax melter, has reached temps in excess of 100 deg C, got it from b&q cost about £10.00. It's not really clear but enough to see whether the wax has melted. I went to a local plastics company and bought off cuts of poly carbonet cut to...

    Swarming from an A/S

Hi Suzi q We have gone over to demaree method and yes they do continue to work, filling the supers. So you shouldn't have a lose in honey production because all the flying bees still have access to the supers, also if they do raise a queen cell in the top brood box you have a source of queens...

    First inspection of the season

I'm hoping as their are plenty of Beeks within a couple of miles of me including a training apiary of over 100 hives that lack of drones won't be an issue. All I can do is watch and wait. C

    First inspection of the season

Well, got back in to the hives today. Re Q Cells 1 is nicely capped and the second is well on the way to being capped. The bees in this hive are very' pingy'. There is more brood than we saw last week in the top box so the old queen is still laying. I also got to look in the bottom brood box and...

    First inspection of the season

Hi all, thanks for all your relies. I was going to leave them to it, so you have confirmed my thoughts, also the next decent day Ill do a full inspection and remove some of the excess stores to make more space. Or should I leave them alone for the time being?

    First inspection of the season

Hi beano, Polyannwood, oliver90owner, jp19sqn. This colony was a prim swarm late last year, so would have changed Q this year, and although there is a small amount of capped drone brood in the other poly and cedar hive I would have thought it is very early for supersedure due a lack of drones to...

    First inspection of the season

Hi muswellmetro, thanks for your reply last year we only double brood boxed over the winter in cedar hives, this is our first winter with poly's, so we only ever had eleven frames of brood max. My main concern is the Q cells? would making more space ie taking out some of the stores aleviate the...
