I am surrounded by a farmers field here in Perthshire and the farmer has only just completed his fist ploughing . The wind is blowing for the last week, so the bees hav'nt much chance of getting out. If we could only get a calm warm couple of weeks, it would make all the difference.

Yes, plenty stores. they have been gathering well when the weather allows. Went down today to remove cover from queen cage to allow them to start eating her out and got attacked rightly. Several stings through my jeans and one on my arse. Not happy girls just now, hopefully new queenie will help...

No such luck in Scotland I'm afraid. The weather here is ****.

New Queen Added new queen in her cage yesterday. Hope to release her later today and with a bit of luck she will be accepted.

The weather is so erratic up here in scotland, the poor bees are trying their best. But I'll be very happy if I get one frame of honey this year.

Decided to have a look at my hive with the transparent crown board, without wearing my smock. Boy did I regret it! Got stung 3 times on my neck as I tried to escape as fast as I could. A big lesson to be learnt1.! I think this weather is driving them mad, as well as us.

I decided to use the strimmer around the hives today as the grass was getting too long. After advice from a friend, I decided to wear my suit. They certainly do not like strimmers! I was surrounded by bees within minutes. Thank god for the advice.
