checked to see all was well. odd one or two out and about. Some hive consuming a lot of fondant others have not touched it

removing supers yesterday, I slipped and fell. I used the poly super to break my fall, unfortunately it hit the ground in such a way that the two dove tails sheared. I would welcome any advice on the best way to effect a suitable repair.

Found one dead colony to day at my main site,the other hives were flying and pollen was going in. At an out apiary found one more dead out, the other four hives were out and about in large numbers but no sign of them collecting pollen. Both dead outs were expected as they were small colonies...

Did the oxalic on 18 hives 12 of mine and two friends, 4 of mine look weak and may not make it through to spring. Collected a few stings as well, first of the new year. Gave some fondant to some as they were getting a bit light, the rest had plenty of stores. Roll on spring

I found a mini old style metal dustbin for £8.50 in a well known Swedish flat pack furniture shop. Seems to work as long as smoker is "plugged" (usually with grass)
