new research suggests treating only heavily infested colonies for varoa.

Varroa treatment. I also now think that our Honeybees in the UK are beginning to self treat and control to some extent the infestations they get in the summer months. :hurray: Bob.

new research suggests treating only heavily infested colonies for varoa.

Varroa treatment. I have been doing similar with my remaining hives here in Kent. Past two years NO treatment in Autumn whatsoever. All i have done is dribble 5ml per seam of bees in each Hive with Oxalic Acid. This was carried out after Christmas but before the end of January on a day when...

    Rapid or contact feeder

I use the plastic takeaway so when my fondant goes hard, if its not too dirty, you can with moist fingers get it back to where it started after just a few mins working it, certainly not any water added. Not much waste here. I bought 1 ton from Bako in autumn 2011. Still have some left it worked...

    granulated supers

Hi Sixfooter, Well it depends on your 12 Hives have they still got enough stores to see them through the next few weeks? You could just put the Super on top of the brood and later get it off if and when they take it down. Mine are out flying even in these high winds today, but they are...

    is the wait finally over?

Jetstream. Heres the answer! http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=jetstream;sess= Bob. So looking ahead the 12th April should be all change. But yet again this is only a forecast.......

    MAQ's, the new varroa treatment.

I wonder if Bob read through to the end - where the conclusion is Quote: My concern that colony disruption by the strips would negatively affect my honey crop also appears to be unfounded. In fact, a brood break just at the start of the flow may be of benefit, as per the Killian method of comb...

    Tbh nuc!

Ever heard of anyone doing this? :nono: If so was it successful? I have a request for a nucleus of bees with mated queen but in tbh format. I'm in process of constructing/modifying a National 5 frame Nuc box. ie, slope either end down to 5 inch gap in centre of box, also made it into an omf...
