    Bee Shed antics

As a healthy bloke working in a primary school, and being almost entirely surrounded by women who have almost all been ill this term, it amuses me how upset they get when you refer to their minor ailments as man-flu! :D Btw, what's...with...the...bee...poo...all...over...the...place...!? :D

    hive insulation

No, that's completely stereotypical. What you actually do is drop a few vowels and add a w, y or ll.

    hive insulation

Yep, Kingsmill is much better. Kingspan makes a dreadful chip butty and I can't get two slices in my mouth, especially when there're a couple of fish fingers in there too.

    Combine?

If the one is strong, what would be your reason for combining? I'm not sure there'd be any mileage in adding more bees now. Also, why is the colony weak? If there's something up, you don't want to be adding that to your strong hive.

bee proof netting for vehicle - recommendations?

Supers fit quite nicely into black bin bags. Easy enough to tie a knot in the top.

Mass of bees flying around then all poured into the hive?

The OP doesn't seem to have hung around for or acknowledged any replies. I wonder if the weather changed? I've seen this happen just before rain. :)

    Moving colonies within the Apiary

Isn't anyone going to mention the magic twigs?! In fact, the last one we did was a magic sign. We had a swarm land in a hedge about 5 metres from the hives. For reasons I won't go into, after putting it into a nuc, it was left at the bottom of the hedge. We subsequently moved it to one of the...

    What turns bees nasty

Youffs kicking the hive over can also do it too! :D

    Strainer advice please

Nice one Sherlock! ;) And the size of the largest honey pollen grain is? I don't tend to quote my journey to work as roughly 10 billion microns either, but there you go. We all love a bit of pedantry. :D

    Strainer advice please

Nope, not to much, ideal. 2 sieves basically, 1.5mm and 0.5mm Not down to micron level!

    a taste of honey

36 participants is hardly a statistically significant study groups, which means only 12 took honey. But then I suppose it took years to throw out Wakefield's MMR fiasco and that only used 12 hand picked individuals. Science, sometimes it's better if it's conducted by scientists.

    May contain nuts

Aaaaaannnnnnnnnndddd, Who was it that brought in the moratorium on neonics? And who got the ban temporarily lifted in the UK? Oooooohh, those swings and roundabouts!

    May contain nuts

If you do a tinterweb search for "honey label requirements", it's all there on the FOOD and GOV pages. As long as you haven't deliberately added anything, there's no problem.

    Old comb

He's going foundation-less, so he's likely to see a major increase in the number of drones produced until the bees find their happy medium. They'll get there eventually. We had almost a whole frame of drone brood recently, probably to coincide with the swarm season, it's now empty and being used...

Bees in a line by entrance

Nah. In a line, you say? British bees, queuing in the rain. National pastime. ;)
