    What did you do in the Apiary today?

    United an a/s with a swarm caught in the garden a few weeks ago, hoping they can build up quick and get some honey in. After that I hived a swarm in a nuc into a new national brood box. One sting today, they're really not the calmest bees!

    Really good day today! first of all went to collect a new hive full of bees from a friend early in the morning, started them off in the garden and removed the foam blocking the front after about an hour to make sure they'd settled down a bit. Then in the early afternoon I did a hive inspection...

    New bees collected

    Just been down the m5 to collect a new hive (bb only) full of bees off a friend. placed them in the garden a few metres away from my existing hive and removed all tape/foam sealing them up. They appear to be happily flying about exploring. Should I be on the look out for anything at this point...

    thanks for the clarification, was a bit scared they were getting too cramped up. Do you recommend using a second deep brood box or just using a super without a QE between? cheers

    Thanks for the replies. There was a mix of sealed brood and uncapped with what i presumed to be eggs in. I shall check again at the weekend that there is definitely space for laying, if not I shall add new foundation where there is only food stores. In a national brood box is it best to have 10...
