Hi Finman, It is on 6 frames. I carried out a Bailey comb change earlier in the year, so the comb is fairly new. Then I went queenless and the laying workers started. It is only because it is so new that I wanted to try and save it.

Can I do anything to recycle laying worker brood comb. I have removed it following a shake out. Do I throw it away or can I rework it. It has capped and uncapped drone brood in it.

You need to close down the unused space. Bees need warmth to be able to draw out the wax foundation. Placing a frame of foundation is not closing down space. If I were you I would look through the hive to see where the brood and stores are. If they are on say 5 frames, then give them 1 or 2...

I am looking to combine a couple of Nucs to one or two of my hive. I want to try and do this to maximise the potential for honey. At the same time, I am not comfortable squishing a perfectly good queen! Can I transfer frames of capped brood from the nucs and just slot them into the hives. If so...

I can't see why it would matter if it is staying in the super. As long as the bees will store in it of course.
