I took a hive from a beek of 40 years in May. I had to burn every single frame. Stupidly took it into my apiary without inspecting and now I have varroa. Previously was Varroa free. His words were “ he never inspects the brood chamber, just lets the bee’s get on with it “ Big lesson learned.

What is this rip off, why are nuc prices spiraling out of control ? so much for the “try and get people into beekeeping” only if their prepared to pay 220 quid and 500+ on hives and suits.

i use a Triton dust collector hooked up to a battery vac, adjust the suction down low and its a doddle.

ive got 2 jonathon getty AMM's arriving in 4 weeks. 35£ per Q He seems in VERY high demand tho. just in time for winter.

Thanks il do that. No sign of any eggs, could not find her on 3 occasions and then 4 emergency queen cups appeared. This is all brand new to me, have i done the right thing ? BG

Moved a swarm from a Nuc to my new hive for the first time. Felt like a total rookie, which i am.

Thanks Beeno, I did that to the Nuc. Transferred them over to the Brood box today but couldn't find the Queen. il have a look again in a few days. BG
