    Hive abandoned for 5 years

I'm not suggesting pure AMM are the answer, otherwise Darwing and evolution would be wrong. As it will be wrong as importing queens from down under and trying to keep them pure. I think that having a a good mongrel with a large proportion of what it used to be local bees+some natural...

    Hive abandoned for 5 years

There are 2 "unmanaged" hives less than 50 yards from mine that I discovered almost 4 years ago. I go and have a look at them quite often and sometimes lift their roof (they have propolis and brace comb everywhere, so everything is well stack). They have survived 3 winters without any human...

    Hive clean

It seems quite high! for a low dose as 3.2% is used as single winter treatment. According to D.Cushman website: " The treatment material is 3.2% oxalic acid in a 1:1 sugar solution. The recipe for making this is as follows:- :Angel_anim:Make up a sugar syrup consisting of 1 kg sugar in 1 L of...

    Novel design - "Thrivehive"

It looks nice and environmentaly friendly, great feature in a patio of a green snob. Specially the straw glueded to the roof for extra effect. However, does not seem practical for the beekeeper, hard work to put propolis in all over the little holes in the straw.

    Honey Bees Require Removal

Contact your local beekepers association or loook on the website of British beekepers association. The later has a list of local beekepers that may be able to help. They also have a help guide to identify different types of bees. However, I have seen ussually wasps or bumble bees nesting on on...

    PU hive with DPGF

Do the bees know about properties of composite ? I bet the will propolise the gap between the boxes/ parts and your hive tool will dig into the soft core or chunks will be removed when pulled apart (guess propolis is good glue & stronger than polyu) You should also epoxi the top botton of...
