What doesn't help is sanctimonious replies to an obviously confused...
Had the inspection board in for a couple of days as treating with HiveClean & monitoring drop.
This morning found 2 larvae, one alive on pulling the board....
I planned to do full inspection today & final HiveClean trickle
Not sure what to do next, totally unexpected & no previous experience...
Started using vaseline between boxes since first inspection and found the bees a lot happier when opened up. Vaseline recommended.
Also, :ot:...have used a misting spray of "CompleteBee" instead of smoke.... The start to the season has been a completely different experience to last year! Very...
They have been having a look around my bench where I built 3. I put them out 10 days ago & not a sniff yet....mind you, I think they wait until I'm not looking!
PS. How & where did you site it?
In my defence for year 1 -
1) I did that, I had mine just in one BB.
2) I put the 3/4 full Super below & only fed 10lbs syrup in September to get BB up to weight as there were no stores in it!
3) No Fondant on until 3 weeks ago!
4) The Hive hefted heavy & I though it full of Brood so added...
First full inspection today 20c Queen laying, capped brood :-) but I have the same problem!!!
I've have moved the less full outer two frames next to brood & removed two frames full of honey & replaced with foundation. There are another six chock full, lovely to see but the wrong time of year...
Mine seem to like green fur growing in it, looks like seaweed.... although they are taking it from the soggy wood sat in it, so that may be filtering it in some way... have left tap water out but they ignore that!
I read somewhere a while ago bees like seawater or would take seawater....
We're off to the coast tomorrow, so should I bring a gallon or two back or is it a waste of time?
