What did you do in the Apiary today?

Swarmed during a break in the weather. They are now sitting outside the spare brood box I want them to go into...I hope it will rain and they go inside.

Have you tried the Reigate branch of the Surrey Beekeepers Association? They have an Apiary near Box Hill School.

    Efb

EFB in Norwood South London. Our Association (Wimbledon) is worried. They had most of the hives in the Apiary destroyed about 10years ago. My bees (back garden) are OK so far.

I agree. Join your local beekeeping association. Our association has a swarm list and one of the experienced guys has nucs later in the season.

    complete noob needs some adivce

You will be stung at some time. I've been stung through a suit several times though it tends to be when I'm lifting heavy supers against my tummy! Before I got my full suit I was stung through jeans. You could go for the de-sensitisation route but there is a waiting list and it takes months...

    First sting

Try a bit of meat tenderiser (got a packet from an Indian spices shop) dissolved in water on the sting immediately after. It seems to lessen the pain. Wash it off after 10 minutes though or it can itself cause irritation.
