    Swarmed - what now?

I inspected my hive 18 days ago and all seemed fine. Eggs, brood and stores, didn't see the queen. Then the weather turned and struggled to get above 10 degrees, and all was quiet around the hive, so I left them alone. Warm day today and first chance for an inspection. Not as many bees, no...

    Multiple eggs in comb

I have removed the feed, i can see them bringing in plenty of pollen, Ivy I think, they have some pollen stores, not lots, but some. I have got a spare foundation only frame, not drawn. I suppose I could swap a frame of stores out, let them draw if they want to and to give the queen some space...

    Multiple eggs in comb

As the queen is still present, does indicate she's failing? Or how's this for a theory... ApiGuard put the queen off laying Worker started playing due to lack of brood. ApiGuard removed and queen started laying again. Would that make sense?

    Multiple eggs in comb

Hello, I checked on stores this morning and picked a couple of random frames, all full of uncapped stores... Not much in the way of room or eggs, but some capped brood and larvae. On the bottom of one frame they had built some comb and I found eggs in it... Some cells had one egg bang in the...

    Bee voyeurism and butt sniffing!

I've noticed this over the past few days since adding Apiguard treatment. I'm guessing it's masking their smell. I have the added action of after a little sniffing a bundle of 3 or 4 fall off roll around on the flow for a bit, I'm guessing they're fighting...

    After Honey Extraction

I understand what Enrico is saying as with the porters in place it has effectively closed the holes. So these are multi-purpose boards really Crown Feeder Clearer

    After Honey Extraction

Ive got the crown board hole opened as I have put the cappings for them to clean on top. When they've picked through it I'll close the board up and move it on top of the eke, and put the apiguard on top of the brood frames (remove QE? Or doesn't it matter?)

    After Honey Extraction

I've got a national hive. The crown board is covered with bees at the moment and I have a gabled roof, so bit concerned that they will start putting brace comb. So from above: Option 1: Put super under brood box for space Option 2: Block up crown board hole to stop them coming into roof...

    After Honey Extraction

This will put the hive opening above the super, does that matter?

    After Honey Extraction

Hi, my first season of beekeeping and am looking for some advice... Bit of background. I put a super on in June with undrawn foundation. They filled filled this out both with comb and honey and capped the honey, I added another super (with undrawn foundation) to give them something to expand...
