Maybe Ply hives would be a good idea ?
I have never seen holes made by woodpeckers in them.

thankies.. hopefully beehause will be offputting enough in that the distace between brood and outside is longer than a beek, and there are few places one would be able to grip on to get a good purchase. supers are a lot more vulnerable tho :s

have seen people fiberglass WBCs to stop them, may try ply for second hive.. but when you see the state of the oak trees in my garden i'm not so sure..

Just put wire mesh around the hive, that'll stop the peckers !
