Advice on a single sealed QC discovery

I always thought 1 day old eggs became 2 days then three then first day larva. Obviously not so I give up.

Of course it matters. This forum isn’t a simple encyclopaedia 😂

Advice on a single sealed QC discovery

I think we are splitting hairs. The publication is badly phrased. The bees cannot make any sort of bee, worker or queen, from a one or two or even three day old egg because they can't feed an egg but they can from a newly hatched egg...a first day larva. Or is the author saying they start...

Woop woop! Bees have found the Hawthorn. On a brighter note Curly has had an avenue of Limes spring up near one of his apiaries.

    Queenless again!

I think he means on the periphery of the brood nest but honestly none of the OP’s posts make much sense.

    Egg in queen cup

It will work with one super especially if you use one of JBMs Demaree boards.

    Egg in queen cup

Egg in queen cup, look in again three days later. Queen cup with royal jelly is a queen cell.

Advice on a single sealed QC discovery

Do bees try to make queens from 4 day old larvae which have been starved of royal jelly for a day? So for six days if you include 1/2/3 day old eggs

That’s very neat. I’d live to see the video if you do get to find it. Perhaps the bees are checking out how old the eggs are?

Lots on the internet about this. Just Google royal patrilines in bees This is The Apiarist’s article on it https://theapiarist.org/whos-the-daddy/ More here https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0199124

Advice on a single sealed QC discovery

Perhaps the bees cannot tell between an egg hatched two hours ago and two minutes ago so stand and watch, loaded with full hypo pharyngeal glands, over eggs ?

    Bee sting protocol

Could you post here and share it with all of us then I could add it to the Stickies
