    New book on Apideas

Hi Dan, I recently bought your book and tbh I'm blown away at the detail and simple to understand way you've written it, its excellent. The resources and tips are great too like the in/out cards, tips on feeding 'cassettes' etc etc. I tried using Apideas last year properly and found them to...

    pink blotches on insepection board

Agreed. I was merely referring to the comment regarding placing boards in due to cold weather.

    pink blotches on insepection board

Bees don't die of cold they die of damp. I suppose you are still using matchsticks!

    Is burnout common?

Thanks for the tip. I think I’m going to also go large (as in cost) and buy something reputable rather than a cheapo. DeWalt 745 looks like the one and possible a better blade for cross cuts.

    Allotment - No Bees Allowed

Location can make a serious difference to bees temperament. If the apiary is an exposed site, little forage etc.

    Thermal imaging of colonies

What model are you using also which version? Ive been considering the pro version 3, on iOS. I see the cross hairs aren't on the cluster - were you just checking that they were all alive rather than anything else? Thanks

    Allotment - No Bees Allowed

Been on an allotment for 3 seasons. Its more Peacekeeping than beekeeping at our plots. You certainly try and act quickly with trouble queens. 3 strike rule. Ps. Its a great shame to read that councils probably refuse because of previously bad beekeepers. If your allotment is a good location...

    Electric (Motor) Extractors

Thank you, I’ve dropped them a line. They do look superior quality albeit from their website. Were they any cheaper at Bee tradex?

    Electric (Motor) Extractors

Hi, I'm considering buying one of the above, 9+ frame. Abelo is a brand im considering but with so many to choose from i wondered what brand is the best quality, most reliable and good customer service. Its a huge outlay and i don't want to make a massive mistake! Thanks

    Uniting

Thanks Oliver. They are almost certainly Queenless.. Late last year they attempted 3 Supercedures, there wasnt any drones around so a decision was made to squish. On Boxing Day the marked queen was dead on the landing board. When she pegged it who knows. Up to today the colony has been erratic...

    Uniting

Such a shame to a new Beekeeper, I just wish the weather was better a month or so ago so these could of had more of a life and been more benefit. It does seem harsh! I suppose this is my first lesson of tough love of a beekeeper.

    Uniting

Maybe it’s the parentless behaviour that’s the point here.
